I’ve written about my favorite skincare products and cosmetic lines, but I’ve never written about haircare. From my posts, it’s clear that I don’t do a lot with my hair! I wash it daily, comb out tangles, dry it until it’s 50% dry, and then brush it before walking out the door. I rarely use hair ties, and I never use styling products or heating tools unless I’m prepping for a special occasion. I wear my hair loose and natural, and even though people may not believe me, my stylist can confirm that I’ve never colored or highlighted my hair.
Why, when I do so little to my hair, would I invest in a personalized haircare system? There’s a simple answer: It’s that good.
My system was formulated for straight hair with no issues other than a wish list for more volume and less flyaways. The makers of Prose products sent me a box of shampoo and conditioner designed for my geographic region, which is humid in the summer and dry in the winter. I spend a lot of time outdoors, so sun protection was another factor, as was the quality of our water.

The shampoo was made for straight and smooth hair that’s longer in length. The conditioner was designed for lift and height (since long hair that’s thick can be heavy), and resistance to humidity. The scent is Prose’s signature fragrance, which smells like baby lotion to me.

After one wash, I noticed softness and control that I don’t always get with other brands, which are mostly drugstore types. Prose is developed in Paris and bottled in New York. It was packaged in a personalized box that made me feel like I was getting prescription haircare. It’s that special!
My haircare kit cost a little over $50, which is about the same as a salon set or higher-end lines sold at Ulta or Sephora. Overall, I’m thrilled with my new haircare system, and I think you should give it a try. If I see a difference in “normal, straight, do-nothing hair”, then I know people with specific goals will be pleased.
