Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a happy holiday season and a great start to 2024. January always excites me, because I feel like everything rewinds and I can start on a clean slate. I am also excited because 2024 will (hopefully) have a lot in store for me!
A few months ago, I was selected to be a member of College Fashionista, a program that provides college students with opportunities to be involved in a digital community that will help them jump start their careers, partner with brands, and gain access to experts in the fashion, beauty, and digital media industries. I was thrilled, especially since I am entering the time in my college career when I need to gain internship and work experience.
As part of being a member of College Fashionista, selected individuals have the opportunity to attend the program’s biggest event during New York Fashion Week: The 2024 Creators Loft. The Creators Loft is described as “Gen-Z’s sanctuary during fashion’s biggest week.” I am excited to share that I have been invited to attend Creators Loft in February, and I will get to spend two full days with the fashion and beauty industry leaders of Kate Spade, imPress, and other sponsored brands. This has been a dream of mine since I was in middle school, and I am so grateful for this opportunity. What’s even crazier is that I wrote this dream down in the guestbook of the Kate Spade flagship store during a trip to NYC in 2018 when I was first starting to blog. Dreams do come true!
Along with fashion week, 2024 will also be the year I graduate from college. I have been able to finish my Communication degree in three-and-a-half years, which allows me to graduate in December. I am shocked by how fast my college career has flown by, but I am excited to see what will come next!
With that said, I am building more professional pieces into my wardrobe, starting with classic blazers in different fabrics. From the boucle lady jacket to a velvet tuxedo style, the blazer is a staple that can take any look from office hours to after-hours.
I’m walking into 2024 with resolutions to protect my inner peace, to be highly selective in opportunities, and to be mindful that a simple life can be significant.
